City Look Lab

2 WEEK SESSION
Monday - Friday, 9 am - 4 pm (aftercare available)
Week 1: August 11, 12, 13, 14, 15
Week 2: August 18, 19, 20, 21, 22
Grades 5-8
This unique, 2-week summer arts camp for middle school-aged students (grades 5-8) invites campers to think creatively, build real structures, and imagine how to make everyday spaces more fun, comfortable, and beautiful -- a hands-on opportunity for kids to learn how artists and designers solve real-world problems through creativity and teamwork.
Throughout the program, students will learn essential skills in art and architectural design while exploring what makes the City of Kingston unique. Each day of the first week will focus on a different design concept, helping students discover where their interests lie—whether it’s drawing, building, or dreaming up ideas that improve the places we live.
This program is perfect for students who are artistically inclined and want to strengthen their creative portfolios—or who simply love to make and build things with others. No prior experience is needed—just curiosity and a willingness to collaborate!
City Look Lab is more than just a classroom experience. Students will go on local walking tours and field trips, riding the city bus to explore Kingston’s parks, buildings, and neighborhoods. Along the way, they’ll see how art and architecture can shape a community—and how their own ideas can help make Kingston an even better place to live.
Our goal is to show that creativity can make a real difference. Whether students are designing mini murals, benches, or signs to help people navigate the city, they’ll be contributing to projects that make Kingston more welcoming, accessible, and vibrant for everyone.
